The 2 categories that encompass everything worth doing

The 2 categories that encompass everything worth doing

Making the most of your time on this planet comes down to only 2 things.

In most cases, when you hear someone speak on making the most of your time, there are two contrasting camps. To overgeneralize, let's call them the surfer and the banker.

The surfer says, "What is there to life besides enjoyment? We're going to die anyway."

The banker says, "I need to work as hard as possible to achieve my goals later in life.

We simplify these two concepts into presence and progress.

Presence being gratitude for what you have. An appreciation for the little moments. Finding time to purely enjoy now.

Progress being working toward achieving a dream. A greater version of yourself.

Written out plainly like that, each one sounds a little insane on its own.

Live only for enjoyment, never asking what you could build or who you could become, and the enjoyment starts to thin.

But chase only the next thing — the next goal, the next milestone, the next version of your life that finally counts — and one day you look up and realize you were never actually there for any of it. That's not living either.

Living life to the fullest means filling your time with both. How you define them depends uniquely on what fulfills you, and the goal is not to achieve a perfect balance. Let it be a compass for your days, months, and years. Some moments call for presence. Some for progress. And in some moments of true flow — often found in movement and creativity — both at once.

People ask us what "Give your time more life" means to us. This is it.

Being present and moving forward. Cherishing today while chasing tomorrow. Being amazed by the tiniest things and going after the craziest dreams.

Presence. Progress. Or nothing.
